Under Rug Swept: Republican Swingers (Interview). Meet The Future Mr and Mrs GOP
Swingers come in all shapes, sizes, races, economic classes, religions and political persuasions. But according to “Katie” and “Jeremy”–who requested not to have their real names revealed–the vast majority of them are conservative Republicans. If so, they represent the fastest–and only–growing demographic for today’s GOP.
Republicanism, America’s largest religion, only has a couple of tenants of faith: lowering taxes is always a good thing and by doing so it helps our economy create more jobs. It’s faith that unites Atheists, Fundamentalist Christians and the well-to-do who love tax cuts for the wealthy. The only problem is the premise these “believers” are clinging to is demonstrably false:
Since 1960, Democratic presidents have created–on average–OVER twice as many jobs per year in office as their Republican counterparts: Since 1960 Democrats have created approximately 3.3 million jobs per year while their Republican opponents have created a meager 1.4 million a year.
Democrats also have a significantly better record on growing the stock market and the GDP and reducing the deficit; in fact, the only two times the deficit has been eliminated in the last 60 years it was accomplished by Democratic presidents. However, as with many religions, facts matter not.
Meet Katie and Jeremy, Republican Swingers. They have been married for about 15 years and live in a nice two-story house in Southern California. Katie married Jeremy right out of high school and is about 12 years his junior. Jeremy had sowed his oats before marriage but was concerned that Katie had not. Hence, when she confided to him that she was attracted to women, Jeremy suggested they try their hand at Swinging.
I put out the word that I wanted to interview married couples in the Swinging lifestyle and the couple readily agreed. They did not shy away from answering all my questions which included topics like:
-Why they chose to engage in Swinging in the first place
-Their first sexual experience before they met
-Swinging in the new online world we live in; the good, the bad and the ugly
-What issues they consider to be of the biggest concern to our country and world.
Some quick take aways from my interview: These folks didn’t hesitate to answer any of my questions, I like that a lot. They both seem gung-ho about Swinging but they gave different answers as to how long they think they’d be involved in the lifestyle. Katie thinks they’ll do it forever while Jeremy doesn’t envision them Swinging into their twilight years. As for now? They are addicted to it and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. While I personally have no interest in Swinging whatsoever, I do predict that it will be the norm in the decades to come thanks to the internet and changing sensibilities.
Swingers will not be welcomed OPEN-armed into the Republican Party–America’s dominate religion-anytime soon, but without them the GOP would have NO chance of remaining one of the two major political parties in the U.S.A. moving forward. The GOP’s survival therefore depends on how well the marriage of convenience between it’s religious zealots and it’s religiously libertarian factions coexist under the big tent when the lights are turned off.
